Fifty Shades of Grey: Starring the Magnolia Table

Sometimes I am watching TV or a movie and I spot something that I designed, and then I get unreasonably excited because no one actually knows I designed it except me and a small handful of people I used to work with. A few weeks ago, I was watching “Fifty Shades of Grey” (it is terrible, but in a trainwreck can’t-look-away kind of way), and I spotted a table that I designed while working at Four Hands. The table is in a few scenes, but is easiest to spot when Christian’s mom (Marcia Gay Harden) visits Christian (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) meets her for the first time. They walk through the foyer and past the staircase, and there she is: the Magnolia table that I designed way back in 2008.

Introducing: Vintage

We are so excited to add a new section of vintage finds to the shop. Each piece you see is selected because of its character and beauty. Sometimes, we find pieces that need a little love before we can sell them (like the Vintage Tray Tables that needed a good wire brushing and new tops), other times we resell the items just as we found them. While we are focused on manufacturing in the US, these vintage pieces may come from all over the world and allow us to give an item a second life. The way we see it, keeping furniture and home items out of a landfill is just as important as creating new pieces that will last a lifetime.
